A corporate commitment to excellence.

Santa Energy Corporation is committed to the continued advancement of oilheat technology to ensure that it remains the best heating choice available for homeowners and businesses. For our customers, this technical advancement directly translates into greater fuel efficiencies, fewer service calls, lots of hot water and trouble-free economical operation.

Promoter of improved fuel oil quality
Santa Energy is an adamant promoter of improved fuel oil quality as it has a direct effect on our customers. The company has invested considerable brainpower and scientific study to evolve the industry. Thomas and John Santa are regular participants and speakers at the Oil Heat Technology Conference and Workshop conducted each year at Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, NY. The conference is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy in cooperation with the Petroleum Marketers Association of America.

Teaming up with Mobil to produce a better heating oil
Because an unacceptable percentage of our customers were experiencing fuel-related break-downs due to nozzles and filters clogged by built up fuel oil sediment, Santa Energy joined forces with Mobil to develop a technically superior detergent heating oil with the ability to break down and dispense sediment. After a three-year controlled experiment conducted by Santa and Mobil, the test group’s fuel-related service calls decreased by 45%. Today, all of Santa's customers benefit from this improved heating oil.

A pioneer in low-sulfur fuel: the environmentally responsible choice
Sulfur in heating oil turns to sulfuric acid that corrodes heat exchangers, flues and masonry. It is also a contributor to acid rain. At a time when the State of Connecticut allowed 1% sulfur content in heating oil, and neighboring states allowed only 0.3% or 0.5%, Santa Energy was the only fuel dealer in Connecticut to supply exclusively low-sulfur fuel (0.2%).

In the early 1990's, John and Thomas Santa worked with the Department of Environmental Protection and State legislature to develop improved fuel quality standards. As of January 1, 1996, the State of Connecticut limits sulfur content of No.2 heating oil and off-road diesel to 0.3% by weight. Today Santa continues to sell only product with 0.2% sulfur (30% less sulfur than the State allowed maximum).

Innovative spill prevention technology
During loading and unloading operations, transshippers of oil are required by Connecticut state law to place a floating boom around each The procedure is not only inconvenient, but also expensive and dangerous.

Santa Energy worked with Ocean & Coastal to develop a pneumatic air boom called the Air Guard System, that will contain any floating pollutants, liquid or solid, and allow for rapid containment. The system, which cost about $30,000, has proven to be a more economically and functionally effective means of controlling an accidental spill when compared to the standard floating booms.
