Santa Energy Employees Help Customer Stay Warm
Milford, Connecticut – March 15, 2010 – The economic downturn made it difficult for many homeowners to heat their homes this past winter. This was especially true for Karen Mack, 88, of Milford who was living on a fixed income when her 30-year old furnace stopped working properly.
As a member of the National Association of Oil Heating Service Managers (NAOHSM), Chris Brown of Santa Energy Corporation in Bridgeport realized Ms. Mack could be a candidate for the Oil Heat Cares program. Oil Heat Cares is a not-for-profit foundation started by the NAOHSM to raise funds to purchase heating equipment for homeowners that need a temporary helping hand.
Brown nominated Ms. Mack and once approved for a new furnace from Oil Heat Cares, sought volunteers from Santa Energy to install the equipment for free. Answering the call to help were long-time employees of Santa’s equipment and service team including Sean Brown, Bob Yance, Don Fucci, Tom Slater, Mark Bogacz, Gabriel Ramos, Skip Breunig, Rich DeGenova and Dave Miller. “We had a great team giving up their personal time to work on this very worthy project,” said Brown. “It’s nice when you can use the skills and experience you have to be able to help someone.”
Brown, and many members of the Santa Energy team, have done this before. A year earlier, Santa employees volunteered their time to replace an old boiler in a Milford home with another new system from Oil Heat Cares.
Ms. Mack is very appreciative of the Oil Heat Cares program and the efforts of the Santa Energy team at her home. Mack says, “I am thankful that there still are people like this in the world.”
