A History of Innovation and Excellence for Our Customers

Santa Energy has always been a leader in providing energy solutions to our customers. Santa’s innovations have impacted the industry and grown our company from a one truck operation delivering petroleum products to neighbor’s homes to a major regional energy supplier.

1940 Stephen and Madelyn Santa start Santa Fuel in Stratford, Connecticut by purchasing a kerosene delivery route from Stephen’s employer Socony Oil Company.

1958 Santa Fuel purchases Mobil Oil’s offices in Bridgeport and moves the business to the new location.

1962 Santa Fuel launches a new wholesale operation, Inland Fuel Terminals, and designs and builds the state’s first unattended, card-operated fuel terminal in Connecticut.

1972 The company purchases Mobil’s barge terminal in Bridgeport, Connecticut giving Santa better control over fuel quality and supply.

1983 Santa significantly expands its commercial oil business by purchasing Bridgeport-based Buckley Brothers.

1989 Santa leads the industry by offering its residential customers a cap pricing option when it introduces what is known today as the Tru-CapSM price protection plan.

1995 Inland Fuel Terminals expands its operation to Rhode Island and Massachusetts with the purchase of a 22 million gallon cargo terminal in Tiverton, Rhode Island.

1996 Santa successfully works with the Connecticut legislature and Department of Environmental Protection to mandate a reduction in the amount of sulfur in home heating oil.  (Santa Fuel exceeds this requirement by selling home heating oil that contains 30% less sulfur than what is required by law.)

1999 Santa begins operating automated commercial fleet fueling stations allowing Connecticut fleet operators convenient locations to fuel vehicles with customized reporting to help them manage their fuel usage.

2005 Santa continues to expand its product portfolio as it begins to offer electricity to commercial accounts.
Santa changes its name to Santa Energy Corporation to reflect the wide-range of products and services it offers its customers.
