Santa Energy Corporation made a contribution to Sullivan McKinney Elder Housing, Inc. in the amount of $150,000. Sullivan McKinney Elder Housing, formerly the Grasmere Elementary School, was adaptively reconstructed into apartments in 1989 to provide 40 units of housing for low-income seniors and disabled households. Carolyn Durgy, President of the Board of Directors, accepted a check from Tom Santa, President and CEO, and Kevin Lloyd, Chief Financial Officer of Santa Energy Corporation. The funds will be used for improvements to the apartments located at 224 Meadowbrook Road, Fairfield, CT.
The contribution supplements a HUD Green Retrofit Grant, a HUD mortgage refinancing and Community Development Block Grants through the Town of Fairfield, which were used in three-phases of construction since 2010. Providing for a comprehensive energy efficiency upgrade to HVAC systems, renovation and modernization of the facility’s building envelope and apartments, along with community room finishes. Santa Energy’s contribution will be used as a source of funds in the fourth phase of construction which is anticipated to commence this spring, including expansion of the existing parking lot, exterior drainage, apartment cabinets and countertops, etc. Renovations are anticipated to be completed by late 2014.
Santa Energy is pleased to be able to support this project and assist seniors in need of a sufficient place to live. Each year Santa does more than just deliver heating oil and propane, we always look to support our local communities where customers live and work.
